“Christ Above All Nations: A Biblical Response to Christian Zionism”

I ran across this Declaration and thought I would give my take on the subject.

Sermon Text Based on the Jerusalem Declaration on Christian Zionism

Primary Texts (KJV):

  • Galatians 3:28–29

  • Ephesians 2:14–16

  • John 18:36

  • Matthew 24:4

Introduction: A Call to Discernment

Folks, we are living in a time of confusion.

A time when political agendas are preached as if they were the Gospel.
A time when loyalty to nations is sometimes elevated above loyalty to Christ.
A time when many sincere believers are asking:

“What is our responsibility as Christians in relation to Israel?”

In 2006, a group of Christian leaders in Jerusalem issued what is known as the Jerusalem Declaration on Christian Zionism. Their purpose was not political—it was pastoral and biblical.

They issued a warning.

A warning that Christian Zionism is not rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, but in a theological system that distorts the Gospel and divides the Body of Christ.

And today, we must examine this not through politics…
not through emotion…
but through the Word of God.

I. The Warning of Christ: “Take Heed That No Man Deceive You”

Matthew 24:4 (KJV)

“Take heed that no man deceive you.”

Jesus did not begin His teaching about the last days with war…
He began with deception.

And beloved, deception is most dangerous when it wears religious clothing.

Christian Zionism often presents itself as:

  • Biblical

  • Faithful

  • Necessary to bless God

But the question is not how it appears…

The question is: Does it align with the teaching of Christ?

II. The Heart of the Declaration: Christ Is the Center—Not a Nation

The Jerusalem Declaration makes this clear:

The promises of God are fulfilled in Jesus Christ—not in political systems or modern nation-states.

Let us go to Scripture.

Galatians 3:28–29 (KJV)

“There is neither Jew nor Greek… for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Do you see it?

The promise is not ethnic.
The promise is not political.
The promise is Christ-centered.

The true children of Abraham are not defined by land…
They are defined by faith in Jesus Christ.

III. Christ Broke Down the Wall

Ephesians 2:14–16 (KJV)

“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition…”

Jesus did not come to elevate one group over another.

He came to:

  • Tear down division

  • Unite humanity

  • Create one new man in Himself

Christian Zionism often rebuilds the wall Christ tore down.

It says:

  • This people has priority

  • This nation must be defended above all

  • This land is the center of God’s plan

But Christ says:

“I am the center.”

IV. The Danger: Replacing the Gospel with a Political Agenda

The Declaration warns that Christian Zionism:

  • Confuses biblical prophecy

  • Supports injustice uncritically

  • Aligns the Church with worldly power

And here is the danger, church:

When the Church aligns itself with political power,
it loses its prophetic voice.

History proves it:

  • When the Church aligned with empire—it lost purity

  • When the Church aligned with nationalism—it lost compassion

  • When the Church aligned with violence—it lost Christlikeness

And today, many are silent in the face of suffering because:

They have confused political loyalty with spiritual obedience.

V. The Kingdom of Christ Is Not of This World

John 18:36 (KJV)

“My kingdom is not of this world…”

Jesus did not come to establish:

  • A political state

  • A military kingdom

  • A national empire

He came to establish a spiritual kingdom.

A kingdom:

  • Not built with weapons

  • Not defended by armies

  • Not defined by borders

But built through:

  • The cross

  • The resurrection

  • The transforming power of the Holy Spirit

VI. A Call to the Church: Return to Christ

The Jerusalem Declaration calls believers to reject teachings that:

  • Elevate land over Lord

  • Nation over Savior

  • Politics over Gospel

And instead, to return to:

Christ alone.

Let me say it plainly:

We are not called to defend nations.
We are called to proclaim the Gospel.

We are not called to justify violence.
We are called to walk in the Spirit of Christ.

We are not called to take sides in worldly conflicts.
We are called to stand for truth, righteousness, and mercy.

VII. What Should Our Response Be?

  1. Love all people—without partiality
Jew, Muslim, Christian—Christ died for all.

  2. Speak truth—even when it is unpopular
Silence in the face of suffering is not righteousness.

  3. Reject deception
Test every teaching by the Word of God.

  4. Lift up Christ—not nations
He alone is Savior. He alone is Lord.

Conclusion: Christ Above All

Beloved, this is not about being against a people.

This is about being faithful to Christ.

The Gospel is not:

  • “Support this nation and be blessed”

The Gospel is:

  • “Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ”

The hope of the world is not found in:

  • Governments

  • Armies

  • Alliances

It is found in Jesus Christ alone.

Closing Appeal

Let us examine our hearts.

Have we:

  • Replaced Christ with ideology?

  • Replaced truth with tradition?

  • Replaced the Gospel with politics?

Today is the day to return.

Return to:

  • The cross

  • The Word

  • The Spirit

  • The truth

Closing Prayer

Father,

Give us discernment in a time of deception.
Help us to see clearly through the confusion of this world.
Keep our hearts anchored in Christ alone.

Teach us to love all people without compromise,
to speak truth without fear,
and to stand firm in Your Word.

Let the Church be the Church again—
not divided by nations,
but united in Christ.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

When Expectations Collapse: A Warning to the Church in the Last Days

I feel like an Old Testament prophet that cried out against injustice and evil and very few are listening. Some even tell me I am going against the will of God. Friends who believe I have been decieved when I speak against the injustice and evil; many who call themselves followers of Christ. Why would Christ support the killing of his followers? Why would He take a Church that has not best tested for faithfulness?

These are thoughts that has been weighing heavy on my spirit.

What if the great falling away does not begin with open rebellion…

But with disappointment?

What if it does not start with people shaking their fists at God…

But with people quietly saying:

“This is not what I was told would happen.”

A Faith Built on Escape—or Endurance?

For generations, many in the Church have been taught:

“We will be taken out before things get bad.”
“We will escape the crisis.”
“We will not face the fire.”

But what if that expectation is wrong?

What if the Church is not removed from tribulation…

But called to stand in it?

The early believers did not expect escape.
They expected persecution.
They expected testing.
They expected to carry the cross.

And yet today, many expect deliverance without suffering.

When Expectations Fail

Now consider what happens if:

  • Crisis comes… and we are still here

  • Persecution rises… and we are not removed

  • The world shakes… and there is no sudden rescue

What then?

For some, faith will deepen.

But for others…

Faith built on expectation will begin to crumble.

The Falling Away

Paul warned of a falling away.

Not a slow drift—but a departure.

And I believe many will not fall away because they hate truth—

They will fall away because:

They believed something that could not sustain them in the storm

A Church Entangled

There is another danger we must face honestly.

The Church has not only built expectations about escape—

It has also become deeply entangled in political loyalties.

Many have tied their faith to:

  • Nations

  • Policies

  • Alliances

And have spoken with certainty where Scripture is more careful.

When the World Begins to Question

What happens when the world looks at the Church and says:

“You defend what you would condemn in others.”
“You speak of righteousness—but apply it selectively.”
“You claim truth—but protect power.”

If that moment comes—and it may—

The Church will face not only persecution…

 But exposure

The Spirit of Antichrist—Closer Than We Think

1 John tells us the spirit of antichrist is not simply a future figure—

It is already at work wherever:

  • Truth is compromised

  • Christ is displaced

  • Allegiance is given to something other than Him

The danger is not just “out there.”

It is when the Church begins to:

  • Justify what is wrong

  • Remain silent when it should speak

  • Replace Christ with something else—anything else

When the World Turns

Jesus said plainly:

“Ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.” — Matthew 24:9

Notice—He did not say:
“For your politics”
“For your alliances”

But:
“ my name’s sake”

If the Church is rejected because it stands for Christ—that is persecution.

But if the Church is rejected because it has:

  • Lost moral clarity

  • Defended injustice

  • Spoken without truth

That is something else entirely.

A Sobering Possibility

What if part of the falling away comes when:

  • Expectations collapse

  • Systems fail

  • Political hopes disappoint

And people realize:

They placed their trust in something other than Christ

What happens when what we called “certainty” is shaken?

What happens when what we defended cannot be defended?

For some…

That will be the breaking point.

The Call Back

This is not a message of despair.

It is a call to return.

Return to:

  • Christ alone

  • Truth without compromise

  • Faith that endures, not escapes

The question is not:
“Will we be taken out?”

The question is:
Will we stand if we are not?

Final Word

“When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” — Luke 18:8

That is the question that echoes through all of this.

Not:
Will we be comfortable?
Will we be protected?

But:

Will we still have faith?

Let the Church awaken.

Let expectations be tested before the storm comes.

Let faith be rooted not in escape—but in Christ.

Because if our faith cannot survive the shaking…

It was never anchored where it needed to be.

Only what is built on Christ will stand. I may be wrong, but if I am right will you depaart from the faith because of tribulation or stand with Christ?

A Pause Before the Storm? A Prophetic Warning in a Time of War

There is a dangerous illusion being preached across our world today—that a ceasefire means peace.

It does not. I am not a military strategist, nor do I have a military background. However, I have studied history, and I fear we may soon be repeating it.

What we are witnessing is not the end of conflict. It is a pause on the edge of something far greater. The guns grow quiet for a moment, but the hearts of men remain unchanged. The weapons are not laid down—they are only held back.

And the question before us is not political—it is spiritual:

Are we watching peace unfold… or judgment drawing nearer?

“Take Heed That No Man Deceive You”

Our Lord gave a warning that echoes louder today than ever before:

Take heed that no man deceive you.” — Matthew 24:4

Deception is not always a lie—it is often a mixture of truth and illusion.

A ceasefire can look like peace.

A pause can feel like safety.

But beneath the surface, the storm may still be forming.

Jesus continued:

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom…” — Matthew 24:7

We are not merely watching events—we are watching patterns long foretold.

Step One: The Spark — “When They Shall Say, Peace and Safety”

All it takes is one moment.

One strike.

One retaliation.

One miscalculation.

And the silence is broken.

The Apostle Paul warned us:

“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them…” — 1 Thessalonians 5:3

The world celebrates a pause.

But Scripture warns us—sudden destruction follows false security.

Step Two: Confusion and Blame — “God Is Not the Author of Confusion”

When conflict resumes, truth disappears.

Each side claims righteousness.

Each side claims defense.

Each side claims justice.

But the Word of God tells us:

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…” — 1 Corinthians 14:33

If confusion reigns, we must ask—whose spirit is truly at work?

Step Three: Retaliation — “They That Take the Sword Shall Perish with the Sword”

Missiles fly.

Drones strike.

Violence answers violence.

And Jesus reminds us:

For all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” — Matthew 26:52

The world believes force will bring peace.

But Christ teaches that violence multiplies itself.

Step Four: Economic Shaking — “A Measure of Wheat for a Penny”

When the Strait is threatened, the world feels it.

Oil rises.

Food costs increase.

Supply chains falter.

And we are reminded of the prophetic words:

A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny…” — Revelation 6:6

War does not remain on the battlefield—it reaches into every home.

Step Five: Expansion of War — “The Whole World Lieth in Wickedness”

The conflict spreads.

Not just one nation—but many.

Not just one battlefield—but regions.

John wrote:

“The whole world lieth in wickedness.” — 1 John 5:19

This is not isolated.

This is the nature of a fallen world moving further from God.

Step Six: The Return to War — “There Is No Peace, Saith My God, to the Wicked”

The pause ends.

War resumes.

And the prophet Isaiah declared:

There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.” — Isaiah 57:21

You cannot build peace on unrighteous foundations.

You cannot negotiate righteousness with sin.

Step Seven: Multiple Fronts — “Wars and Rumours of Wars”

Now the conflict multiplies.

North. South. East. West.

Jesus said:

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars… see that ye be not troubled…” — Matthew 24:6

Notice—He did not say there would be one war.

He said there would be many.

Step Eight: Global Fear — “Men’s Hearts Failing Them for Fear”

Fear spreads across the nations.

Markets fall.

People panic.

Uncertainty grows.

And Christ warned:

Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth…” — Luke 21:26

We are watching that fear rise even now.

Step Nine: The Point of No Return — “The Way of Peace They Have Not Known”

At some point, the conflict becomes too large to stop easily.

And Scripture says:

“The way of peace they have not known.” — Romans 3:17

Why?

Because true peace is not political—it is spiritual.

The Deeper Issue: A Spiritual Crisis

This is not just about nations.

It is about the heart of man.

Jeremiah spoke clearly:

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked…” — Jeremiah 17:9

We look at leaders and governments—but the root problem is deeper.

Sin.

Pride.

Power.

Control.

A Warning to the Church

The danger is not only in the world, but in deception within the Church.

If believers begin to trust in:

  • governments instead of God
  • military power instead of righteousness
  • political alliances instead of truth

Then we have lost our way.

Psalm 20 reminds us:

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” — Psalm 20:7

A Call to Watchfulness

Jesus did not tell us to panic.

He told us to watch.

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” — Matthew 24:42

We are not called to fear—we are called to discern.

A Call to Faithfulness

In times like these, the question is not:

“What will nations do?”

But:

“Will we remain faithful?”

Revelation declares:

Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” — Revelation 2:10

Final Exhortation

This ceasefire is not the end.

It is a pause on the brink.

And if it breaks, events may unfold quickly—faster than many are prepared for.

But for the believer, there is hope.

Not in governments.

Not in treaties.

Not in ceasefires.

But in Christ.

Let me ask you:

Are you ready if the world becomes more unstable?

Are you grounded in truth—or influenced by deception?

Are you trusting in the systems of men… or in the Savior?

Because in uncertain times, only one foundation stands:

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 3:11
