When Expectations Collapse: A Warning to the Church in the Last Days

I feel like an Old Testament prophet that cried out against injustice and evil and very few are listening. Some even tell me I am going against the will of God. Friends who believe I have been decieved when I speak against the injustice and evil; many who call themselves followers of Christ. Why would Christ support the killing of his followers? Why would He take a Church that has not best tested for faithfulness?

These are thoughts that has been weighing heavy on my spirit.

What if the great falling away does not begin with open rebellion…

But with disappointment?

What if it does not start with people shaking their fists at God…

But with people quietly saying:

“This is not what I was told would happen.”

A Faith Built on Escape—or Endurance?

For generations, many in the Church have been taught:

“We will be taken out before things get bad.”
“We will escape the crisis.”
“We will not face the fire.”

But what if that expectation is wrong?

What if the Church is not removed from tribulation…

But called to stand in it?

The early believers did not expect escape.
They expected persecution.
They expected testing.
They expected to carry the cross.

And yet today, many expect deliverance without suffering.

When Expectations Fail

Now consider what happens if:

  • Crisis comes… and we are still here

  • Persecution rises… and we are not removed

  • The world shakes… and there is no sudden rescue

What then?

For some, faith will deepen.

But for others…

Faith built on expectation will begin to crumble.

The Falling Away

Paul warned of a falling away.

Not a slow drift—but a departure.

And I believe many will not fall away because they hate truth—

They will fall away because:

They believed something that could not sustain them in the storm

A Church Entangled

There is another danger we must face honestly.

The Church has not only built expectations about escape—

It has also become deeply entangled in political loyalties.

Many have tied their faith to:

  • Nations

  • Policies

  • Alliances

And have spoken with certainty where Scripture is more careful.

When the World Begins to Question

What happens when the world looks at the Church and says:

“You defend what you would condemn in others.”
“You speak of righteousness—but apply it selectively.”
“You claim truth—but protect power.”

If that moment comes—and it may—

The Church will face not only persecution…

 But exposure

The Spirit of Antichrist—Closer Than We Think

1 John tells us the spirit of antichrist is not simply a future figure—

It is already at work wherever:

  • Truth is compromised

  • Christ is displaced

  • Allegiance is given to something other than Him

The danger is not just “out there.”

It is when the Church begins to:

  • Justify what is wrong

  • Remain silent when it should speak

  • Replace Christ with something else—anything else

When the World Turns

Jesus said plainly:

“Ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.” — Matthew 24:9

Notice—He did not say:
“For your politics”
“For your alliances”

But:
“ my name’s sake”

If the Church is rejected because it stands for Christ—that is persecution.

But if the Church is rejected because it has:

  • Lost moral clarity

  • Defended injustice

  • Spoken without truth

That is something else entirely.

A Sobering Possibility

What if part of the falling away comes when:

  • Expectations collapse

  • Systems fail

  • Political hopes disappoint

And people realize:

They placed their trust in something other than Christ

What happens when what we called “certainty” is shaken?

What happens when what we defended cannot be defended?

For some…

That will be the breaking point.

The Call Back

This is not a message of despair.

It is a call to return.

Return to:

  • Christ alone

  • Truth without compromise

  • Faith that endures, not escapes

The question is not:
“Will we be taken out?”

The question is:
Will we stand if we are not?

Final Word

“When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” — Luke 18:8

That is the question that echoes through all of this.

Not:
Will we be comfortable?
Will we be protected?

But:

Will we still have faith?

Let the Church awaken.

Let expectations be tested before the storm comes.

Let faith be rooted not in escape—but in Christ.

Because if our faith cannot survive the shaking…

It was never anchored where it needed to be.

Only what is built on Christ will stand. I may be wrong, but if I am right will you depaart from the faith because of tribulation or stand with Christ?
