Our Father and my God, I come before You with heavy a heart, broken by the suffering of innocent children and the unbearable grief of parents who mourn.
Lord, You see every mother and father in Gaza
who has held a lifeless child,
who has wept through the night,
who has cried out with questions that seem to have no answer.
You are the God who sees.
You are the God who hears.
You are the God who draws near to the brokenhearted.
So we lift them to You now.
Father, comfort the parents who grieve.
Wrap them in Your presence when sorrow overwhelms them.
When their arms are empty, hold them close.
When their hearts are shattered, be their peace.
Remind them that You, too, know what it is to watch a Son suffer.
Lord, have mercy on the children who are suffering.
Those who are wounded, those who are sick without care, those who hunger and thirst—be their provision, their healing, and their strength.
Where there is no medicine, be their healer.
Where there is no food, sustain them.
Where fear surrounds them, be their refuge.
Protect the children who are alone.
Those who have no parent to watch over them—
be their Father.
Send help, send shelter, send compassion through those who can reach them.
Strengthen the parents who are still fighting to care for their children.
Give them courage when they feel they cannot go on.
Give them faith when despair whispers louder than hope.
Give them daily strength to endure what no parent should ever face.
Lord, we do not understand such suffering,
but we trust that You are near to the broken,
and that no tear falls without Your notice.
Let not cruelty have the final word.
Let not death have the final victory.
Let Your mercy rise even in the darkest places.
And may Your love reach into every shattered home,
every grieving heart, and every suffering child.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ,
who said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me,”
and who gathers them in His arms.
Amen.
