This will not be a typical Father's Day message. It will not be politically correct. It will no doubt offend some people. However,
this is from my perspective and not that of the Church.
I was born on July 15th, 1948, to Moody and Garnet
Truitt. Both my parent were white, which
makes me white. I was not given a choice
as to what race I would be born. I was
not given a choice of who my parents would be and their race. I had no choice in the matter of my
birth. My gender was determined by my
parents' genetics, not by the doctor or the hospital I was born in. You see, there was nothing I could do to
change the events of my birth. I am a
white male by birth. Over the years, I
have come to accept who I am and that this is the way God wanted me to be. My parents treated everyone with respect
regardless of their skin color and taught their children to do the same.
The first Church I pastored was Robert's Chapel. The oldest African Methodist Episcopal Church
in Indiana. I graduated with a BA from
Martin University, an African American University. I was often the only white person in my
class. I served on the M.G. Raby
Distinguished Service Award Committee for several years as the only white male
on the committee. This award recognized
individuals whose efforts, deeds, and examples support equal justice,
opportunities for all and celebrate diversity within the Metropolitan School
District of Wayne Township.
Laverna and I spent almost two years living among the
Shoshone Indians on the Wind River Reservation in Wyo. I know what it is to be a minority. I know what it is to be hated because I am
white. What I don't understand is how my
being white makes me a racist? I thought
that it was vital that we judged people by the content of their character
rather than the color of their skin.
Today, I am judged by my skin color, and because it is white, I am born
a racist. What bothers me about this is
some are calling for the death of every white person in America to bring an end
to racism.
What does this have to do with father's day? When my parents decided to have children,
they didn't base that decision on making a bunch of white racists. Today, parents need to consider the attitude
of the WOKE community and the safety of their children. The world has changed dramatically for the
white race and especially the white male.
Parents now must decide if they want their children hating themselves
because they are white? It concerns me
that it is white teachers and school officials pushing this agenda of
hate. What has happened to our world?
I watched a Senate hearing this week where an Admiral in the
Navy required every sailor to read a book that calls every white person a
racist and the Navy a racist organization.
What has happened to our world?
For at least four decades, white males have been under
continuous assault as bearers of "white privilege" and beneficiaries
of sexism. Of course, particular preferences and privileges have been granted
to other groups, but that is the least of it.
More importantly, the very basis of the psychological self-worth of
white males has been under attack. White
males are frequently instructed by authority figures in education and the media
that they are responsible for most of the evils of the modern world, that the
achievements of Euro-American civilization are a net loss for humanity, stained
by exploitation, racism, unfairness, and every other collective evil the
progressive mind can manufacture.
Some white males are relatively unscathed by psychological
warfare, but others are more vulnerable. Those who have educational, financial,
or employment achievements that have rewarded their efforts may be able to keep
going as productive members of society, their self-esteem resting on tangible
fruits of their work and social position. But other white males, especially
those who work with their hands and have been seeing job opportunities
disappear, have been losing the basis for a robust sense of self-worth as their
job opportunities disappear. This has
contributed to the high numbers of white male deaths in the United States due
to stress and heart disease.
Just as community organizer Saul Alinsky, in his textbook for
Marxist street thugs, Rules for Radicals, advised his minions, constant
drumbeats have the potential to wear down resolve and win social and cultural
wars. For years now, the object of
left-wing pressure has been to undermine the status and reputation of straight
white conservative males. If you are a Christian white male, you now are
considered a "domestic terrorist."
To eradicate the white guy problem in America, Caucasians
with XY chromosomes, who self-identify as the sex they were at birth, are
portrayed by the left as misogynist, bigoted, homophobic, violent troublemakers
in need of exposure, and chastisement. Unfortunately, this constant message is
being sounded all across this country and in our schools.
We hear daily that
conservative white males are genetically flawed, historical figures are being
unfairly held to 21st-century cultural and political standards. Even Confederate General Robert E. Lee tucked
away in a grave since 1870, has not escaped retroactive ridicule from the left
for his political identification and pale skin color.
This is what is facing American fathers today. How can children honor their fathers when
they are being taught by the MSM, schoolteachers, government officials, and
even pastors that their white father is evil.
Conservative activist
Candace Owens told host Maria Bartiromo children should not be allowed to
attend schools that teach them how "not to be racist."
After Bartiromo accused schools of "assuming every kid
is a racist," Owens, who said she thinks it's time to "pull our kids
out of school," said core subjects like math and science are being
replaced by lessons that teach kids "how to hate white people."
Owens continued, "It's indoctrination that's happening.
They're trying to fuel race issues in this county, they're trying to teach this
Marxist ideology, and the bad thing is they're replacing hard academics. These
kids are not learning math and science, they're not learning mathematics,
they're learning how to hate white people and how to hate their country, and
this is problematic for the future."
The expanding use of Critical Race Theory in K-12 classrooms
has prompted some parents to file lawsuits against school districts or pull
their children out of the schools entirely.
Owens referred to former FOX News host Megyn Kelly's decision
to pull her sons out of their "woke," "far-left" New York
City school.
Kelly announced in November 2020 that she was leaving the
city and pulling her sons from the Collegiate School in Manhattan after a
letter circulated among faculty after George Floyd died saying, "White
school districts across the country [are] full of future killer cops."
The letter read, "A killer cop is sitting in every
school where white children learn," Webber wrote in June. "They
gleefully soak in their whitewashed history that downplays the holocaust of
indigenous native peoples and Africans in the Americas. They happily believe
their all-white spaces exist as a matter of personal effort and willingly use
violence against black bodies to keep those spaces white."
Kelly said the letter was proof the school had "gone off
the deep end." On her podcast "The Megyn Kelly Show," she
questioned, "Which boy in my kid's school is the future killer cop? Is it
my boy? Which boy is it? Because I don't happen to believe that they're in
there."
Owens told Bartiromo that schools are "100 percent
biased" and that it was time for parents to start suing schools. "They
will win if they start suing schools for this sort of stuff because it is
blatant discrimination," she said.
Last month, a Black mom filed a suit against her biracial,
white-passing son's public charter school after he allegedly received a failing
grade in the class "Sociology of Change" for failing to confess his
"white dominance."
An elite Manhattan school is teaching white students as young
as 6 that they’re born racist and should feel guilty benefiting from “white
privilege,” while heaping praise and cupcakes on their black peers.
Administrators at the Bank Street School for Children on the
Upper West Side claim it’s a novel approach to fighting discrimination, and
that several other private New York schools are doing it, but even liberal
parents aren’t buying it.
They complain the K-8 school of 430 kids is separating whites
in classes where they’re made to feel awful about their “whiteness,” and all
the “kids of color” in other rooms where they’re taught to feel proud about
their race and are rewarded with treats and other privileges.
Teaching even one child these divisive messages would verge
on psychological abuse. Indoctrinating generations of children with these
extreme ideas is not just immoral — it is a program for national suicide. Yet
that is exactly what the Biden administration endorsed recently in a rule
published in the Federal Register aimed at inflicting a critical race
theory-inspired curriculum on American schoolchildren.
The rule explicitly cites the New York Times’ discredited
“1619 Project” as a motivation. The Times has described the goal of its
endeavor as the “re-education” of the American people, and the project even
includes a lesson plan that encourages students to practice “erasing” parts of
the Declaration of Independence. The Biden rule also directly cites a left-wing
activist and leading proponent of critical race theory whose textbook states,
“The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only
remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.”
This is what the Biden administration wants to teach
America’s children.
The Department of Education rule stems from an executive
order Biden signed on his first day in office. Biden’s order abolished the Trump President’s Advisory 1776 Commission created to honor America’s founding
principles, and reversed an executive action to stop depraved theories from
being imposed upon federal employees in workforce training sessions.
Thankfully, most Americans oppose this insanity. The left has
only gotten away with it until this point because not enough parents have been
paying attention and speaking up. But that is quickly changing. From Loudoun
County, Va., to Cupertino, Calif., parents are beginning to make their voices
heard against the left-wing cultural revolution.
I know we are a white church, but we should not be ashamed of
how God has made us. Nor should we
subject our children to an ideology that teaches them to hate who they are and
how they are made. Jesus said we are to
love our neighbor as ourselves. If I
cannot love who God has made me be, how can I love my neighbor?
One last thing, how is Sugar Plain going to address the issue
of Critical Race Theory? Are we going to
allow our children to be shamed for being who God made them? Are we going to ignore this issue like we do
so many other social problems? Maybe it
is time that we provide our children a haven for learning? Sugar Plain was a schoolhouse before it was a
church. For 66 years, Sugar Plain Friends Church supported Sugar Plain Academy
to give their children a Biblical Worldview.
Maybe it is time to get back to our roots. Pray for our fathers.
